In this first class of a three-part series, a ZCLA instructor will take you through the basic forms of Zen meditation—or, zazen—a practice designed to unify body, breath, and mind. Topics include the different sitting postures available to meditators, how to work with thoughts during meditation, basic breathing practices, and an overview of walking meditation (kinhin). We’ll also explore the bowing and chanting that take place as part of any formal time in the Zendo (meditation hall). Class participants will then join others in the Zendo who will have already been sitting as part of the weekly Sunday morning program.

You are encouraged to stay for the remainder of the morning program, which generally includes a talk at 11:15am and a vegetarian lunch shortly after noon.
